Geographical Location

Nepal is located in South Asia between People's Rupublic of China in the north and India in the South respectively.
Area : 147,181 sq. km
Altitude : Varies from 70 meters of terai region to the highest  mountain Mt. Everest 8848 meters above the sea level.

Language
Although various local languages are spoken all over Nepal, but Nepal is the national language of Nepal. Literate people understand and speak English as well.

Nepal standard time is 5 hours 45 minutes ahead of GMT and 15 minutes ahead of Indian standard time.
   
Climate  
Nepal has four major seasons, namely :
Winter : December-February
Spring : March-May
Summer : June-August
Autumn : September-November

People and Religion  

Nepalese people are mainly divided into two distinct groups Indo-Aryans and the Mongoloids. Kathmandu valley is the spiritual and cultural meeting point of all these groups. Hinduism and Buddhism are two predominant religious of Nepal. Hindu temples and Buddhist shrines are scattered all over the kingdom. Nepal is the birthpalce of Lord Buddha. Nepalese people are traditionally religious. They pay respect to superiors and guests. Guests are considered as Gods.

Sincerity, honesty, bravery and reliability are the inborn instincts that give the prominent introduction about the Nepalese people. Nepalese manpower assigned to the British army since 1814 have earned good reputation by their honesty, discipline and bravery and are famous as Brave Gurkhas of Nepal. Nepal is also known as the homeland of legendery world-famous soldiers Gurkhas. For the bravery and honesty shown by the Gurkhas during 1st and 2nd world wars, the Gurkha soldies have been awarded more than a dozen Victoria Crosses (V.C.), and to this day continue to enjoy the highest reputation for their vigor and quality all over the world.
